Who: Anyone wanting to take their drawing skills deeper

What: Discover the joy of drawing, a skill that anyone can learn. Learn to see more carefully and to begin to draw what you see. This five week class is for students of all drawing experience, but, focused on intermediate drawing skills. Students will be taught individually in a group setting. Topics will build on basic drawing techniques, and will include: line versus shape, positive/negative space, compositional concerns, and an introduction to color theory.

Students will be encouraged to use any or all of the following drawing tools: graphite pencils, charcoal pencils, colored pencils, and pastel pencils. Drawings by famous artists will be shown, as examples of the above techniques/ ideas.

When: Mondays from from April 1-29 from 12:30-2:30

Where: Ice House Gallery Studios at 609 South Blvd, Evanston

Why: Because art is fun and amazing, and there is an artist in each of us that needs to grow

Cost: $135

Materials: All basic materials are included, however, feel free to bring in your own as well.

Virginia O. Roeder, is an abstract landscape painter with focus on color. She received her MA and MFA degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she later taught and subsequently taught at the University of Missouri-Columbia and at the Evanston Art Center.
